Gastric Sleeve (stomach reduction surgery)
After you have been put to sleep, the operation will begin. The surgeon will first take a good look at the inside of your abdomen. Then follows the first step where we separate the stomach from the surrounding tissue on one side. A gastric tube is inserted through the mouth. We use this tube to precisely measure the thickness of resized stomach

How does it work?
The part of the stomach that we want to remove is then stapled and cut loose. This makes the stomach about ¾ smaller. The loose part of the stomach is now removed from the abdomen through a small incision. A resized stomach remains with an inside thickness of the size of your thumb. We'll check everything again before the operation is over. When you wake up we have already closed all the wounds. You will not notice anything about the operation itself.
Difference with the Gastric Bypass and the Mini Gastric Bypass:
No changes to the intestines
No chance of an internal hernia (rotation of the intestines)
Slightly less likely to be deficient in vitamins and minerals
Slightly less weight loss in the long run
Less good results in people who have diabetes
Part of the stomach is permanently removed, it will not grow back
